ENERGY
INDEPENDENCE AND BIOFUELS:
In 2006 Mr. Wade was the Project Manager for
the “Delaware E-Team” a non-partisan volunteer group of 300+
citizens of all backgrounds. The Delaware E-Team advocated for
statewide public policy to rapidly transition away from imported oil
based vehicle fuels and toward locally produced renewable fuels.
He authored a brief outlining
the present fuel needs, renewable biomass capacity, fuel production
processes, projected costs and community benefits of ethanol. This
brief was entitled, “Delaware Leadership for the Emerging Ethanol
Economy.”
Mr. Wade appeared as the opening
witness before the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Biofuels (HCR 70). This
task force consisted of senior members of the Delaware House and
Senate and included leaders of key statewide departments. The
hearings continued for a period of 5 days in House Chambers. Mr.
Wade’s presentation and follow on testimony under questioning are
recorded in the published proceedings of the task force.
For these efforts, Mr. Wade
received the formal
Tribute of the Delaware House of Representatives signed by
all 41 members, Republican and Democrat.
Kevin Wade has had op-ed
articles published in the “Community Voices” column of the
Wilmington News-Journal. These contributions were in support of
biofuels, energy independence and the resulting lift to our common
security and prosperity.
